About Bentwave
Chris Rice

Bentwave History
Bentwave was created when SoundExchange, the royalty enforcement arm of the RIAA wanted money for my webcast, westernstatic. Unwilling to pay $500/year for my six concurrent listeners, I decided to take advantage of photography's "digital revolution", and create content over which I had exclusive and total control. Bentwave was born.

I met Chris Rice on a road trip to Utah in 2003. We share a common interest in desert landscape photography, and in October 2006, we turned bentwave into a partnership, opening a gallery to participate in Denver's First Friday Art walks. We ran bentwave for nearly three years, learning about the do's & don't of running a business. In August 2009, with a struggling economy and feelings of ennui, we ended the gallery.

Bentwave Philosophy
The West seems to be made for photography - surreal landscapes and stark vistas abound. In the right light - lasting perhaps only a moment - a magnificent landscape may be revealed, unveiling archetypes realized only by its ancient people. Bentwave captures the classic western landscape, whether in a glory of fall color; or the contrast, shape, and tone in black & white.

    Acknowledgements

Bentwave continues to benefit from the experience and ideas of Kirk Norlin and Jimmy Sellars, without whom we wouldn't be nearly as cool (or connected). We'd also like to thank John Fielder for his support, not to mention his valuable tips for photographic techniques and suggested Colorado locations. Metro Frameworks is our frame shop of choice, thanks to Melanie's eye for presentation and attention to detail.
