I've had some opportunity to photograph wildlife here in Colorado; moose apparently inhabit particular regions of the state, and photographing elk in rut is as easy as driving up to Rocky Mountain National Park in September and parking along the road ... along with all the other tourists doing the same thing.
I confess that I don't have the telephoto thing quite down... even with a tripod, shutter release, and fast shutter speeds, many of these images are "soft".
